SEEDS OF THOUGHT

WITH FEAR, I WALK

In a dreamlike void beneath a cosmic sky, a lone figure ascends a staircase suspended in nothingness, arriving at the mouth of a vast, coiled serpent. The serpent—glowing with celestial light and formidable power—represents fear in all its forms: change, uncertainty, sorrow, and the many unseen weights we carry. Its size is overwhelming, its gaze direct, and its jaws wide open, yet the figure does not retreat. Instead, they stand calmly, cradling a soft flame—a symbol of purpose, values, and quiet resolve.

This painting is not about the absence of fear, but the act of walking forward while holding it. It speaks to the profound courage it takes to meet our inner monsters with open eyes, to hold fear in one hand and continue forward with our values in the other. The serpent does not consume the figure; it becomes part of their journey. They do not slay it—they coexist.

It is a visual meditation on the paradox of courage: the strength not to eliminate fear, but to carry it with grace.

“With fear, i walk” – The First Painting in My New Collection

Welcome to the first piece in a very special collection of mine — one that’s been brewing in the background for years, quietly forming through lived experience, reflection, and a deep desire to express the things that words sometimes can’t.

This painting is titled “Fear Walking”, inspired by a quote that’s guided me through some of my most courageous moments:

“Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is fear walking.”

The concept behind this piece came from my own journey living with anxiety, and how I’ve come to see fear—not as something to conquer or silence, but something to walk alongside. Whether it’s spearfishing, hula hooping in public, snowboarding, freediving, fire twirling, van tripping, or solo travel overseas, I’ve learned that courage isn’t about feeling fearless. It’s about carrying that little voice of doubt, acknowledging it, and moving forward anyway.

I’ve always loved creating beautiful paintings that people can emotionally connect with, but with this collection, I wanted to go deeper. I wanted to bring to life the sayings, affirmations, and philosophies that have shaped the way I see the world—especially during tough times.

This series is about visualising those guiding words we often keep tucked away in notebooks, fridge magnets, or the back of our minds. My hope is that these paintings serve as gentle reminders of your own strength, values, and inner compass.

Why This Series Matters to Me

I remember visiting my aunty’s house and seeing her toilet door covered in affirmations and poems. I’m not much of a reader, and I always thought, What if those powerful words were paintings instead? What if every time you looked at a piece of art in your home, it shifted your mindset—just a little bit?

This is the heart of the series: paintings that hold meaning. That reflect our values. That remind us, without words, of who we are when life gets hard.

I never thought I’d create something so personal or so deeply tied to my love of psychology and self-growth, but here we are. I’m excited to share more paintings from this collection soon—and the stories behind them.

Thank you for being here. Let’s keep walking with fear, together.

Love,

Kate
